Economic Development Commission

 
The Economic Development Commission (EDC) fulfills the requirements of IC 36-7-12.  Its primary mission is issuance of industrial revenue bonds and pollution control bonds.  The EDC meets on demand.  Lenders and developers with questions about our EDC and industrial revenue bonds should contact our legal department:  Gregg Sobkowski at (219) 762-9129.
The Portage Economic Development Commission operates without staff and requires no office space.  Their annual budget is approximately $500; this annual appropriation covers costs for public meeting notices, legal notices, and postage. 
 
The membership of the Economic Development Commission is as follows:  1 Mayoral appointment, 1 City Council appointment, 1 County Council appointment (four-year terms).
