Code Enforcement

The Code Enforcement Department enforces the Municipal Codes of the City of Portage in order to promote and protect the public health, safety and welfare of the residents of the City of Portage such as:

 

  • The general maintenance of property including issues dealing with weeds trash, junk vehicles, etc.
  • The general maintenance of structures in conjunction with the Building Department.
  • The enforcement of Zoning Standards in conjunction with the Department of Community Planning and Development.
  • The enforcement of erosion issues in conjunction with the Engineering Department and Stormwater Management.
  • The issuance of citations and/or fines for the Violations Bureau.
