To enhance and safe-guard the benefits earned by all American Veterans who have served honorably and to improve the quality of life for them, their families and the communities where they live through leadership, advocacy and education.

2016 Educational Sessions on Veteran Issues

The sessions intend to:

  1. Educate you on veterans resources 
  2. Inform you about opportunities you may not be aware of
  3. Provide guidance on how to effectively navigate the VA system 
  4. Bring to light issues faced by veterans

Location: Woodland Park, Sycamore Hall
Registration: Pre-registration is not required.

  • The VA health, benefits, and burials and memorial administrations. How they work together (and how they don't). 
  • How to apply for benefits (health, service connection, pension etc.)

July 6th Porter County Veteran Service Officer - Jim Atkinson A variety of important topics will be discussed including benefit options, preparing a benefit claim to maximize results, discharge upgrades, the appeal process, financial and social assistance, property tax benefits, and employment assistance.
August 3rd Reps from the Veterans Administration Regional Office, Indianapolis A variety of veterans benefit topics 
September 7th Federal Veterans Administration Town Hall Meeting Hear directly from VA administrators and sit with staff members who will assist you on your personal claims and issue.s 
October 5th  Ivy Tech and Work One Employment and career path opportunities for vets.
November 2nd  IN Military Veterans Coalition: Brigadier General Bauerle Proposed veterans legislation in the 2017 Indiana General Assembly. Come see how new laws could impact you as a vet. 
December 7th Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs  A discussion on state benefits and opportunities for veterans.
January 4th, 2017 John E. Mundt, Ph.D Dr. Mundt is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in veterans mental health issues.
